The butlers must once again join forces in order to get the truth out of a killer, but this particular troubled psychopath - not to mention, Joe's mother - could end up incriminating several other parties along the way. Joe himself, meanwhile, grapples with some even more horrifying news, as well as the prospect of moving sideways in terms of his career. In fact, all his friends' "careers" are reflected upon, going back to the very beginning, while in the present they must deal with the other people in their lives being as devious as they are. Josh finds himself at a loss with Juan, with Brad turning his head once more; Rena continues to see Maria Solano while she remains on the hunt for a new idea, which could mean good news for some; and Ben learns just what brand of sick, twisted revenge Val has in store for him, with the Del Barrio mansion hosting more than a few surprises.
Silvia Applewhite is perched back up in her tree, staring through the scope of her sniper rifle at the devastation left behind in the wake of Fanon Drive's recent riot. As she remains there, waiting for... someone, the camera pans around her head.
We see a young Silvia, sitting with her mother, surrounded by the great wealth heralded by all the major families of Wikerly Hills.
We see a slightly older Silvia, sitting with her friend, Lily DeWar; the two of them are sipping tea when suddenly they start to feel a little off.
Finally we see Silvia sitting with her newborn son - Joe - in her arms, in that familiar locale. She is conflicted. The love in her eyes is mixed with hatred.
That same look is in her eye today as the scope enlarges it, and through it she sees Joe, walking with his three best friends. Not particularly wanting to shoot any one of them - at least, not anymore - she moves her aim, and we are taken simply to the scene of the four butlers wandering the ruins of their practically war-torn street. "Wow, this place is a mess," Rena comments, "I don't envy the people who've gotta clean it up." "Yeah, that'd probably be us," Josh points out, making his Portuguese friend exclaim, "Crap." Joe continues to limp after the beating he received, and so Ben, slightly stoic in his demeanor, asks him if he's sure he's okay. "I'm fine," Joe assures, "It's worse than it looks." And then he feels the need to ask, "Are you okay? You seem kinda..." "It's nothing," Ben lies, "just... Val stuff." "Ben," Joe then states firmly, "how worried do we have to be about Val exactly?" The other butlers are interested to know this as well, but Ben shrugs it off with, "Oh, I don't think you guys need to be worried." "You're sure?" Rena relents, "Because we're doing a whole full disclosure thing now, I thought." "And in the spirit of that, I should probably formally invite you guys to my wedding," Josh comments, making the other three exclaim, "What?!" in unison. "Juan and I are getting married," Josh reveals, and the others can't quite comprehend it. "But... Brad," Ben utters. "I know," Josh closes his eyes, "Brad is amazing, he saved my life, but Juan and I... I just need to be with Juan right now. For... reasons." "That doesn't sound very full disclosure-y," Rena points out. "Do you keep bringing that up as an excuse to tell us about your date with Maria Solano?" Joe wonders, and Rena says, "Maaaayyyybee." The others roll their eyes but don't object, and so Rena starts with, "It went so good. The night started with this--" "Guys," Joe interrupts, "I got something to tell you." "Really?" Rena questions, "Now?" "That woman who was stalking me..." Joe continues. "Lindsay Green?" Josh recalls, only for Joe to reveal that her name is in fact Silvia Applewhite, "And the reason she's been stalking me is... she's my mother." The others appear surprised, again, with Joe explaining how she saved his life in the riot and then confessed. "Anything else to get off your chests before I go back to talking about me?" Rena would like to know, and the others ponder. "Oh," Joe then remembers, "Joanna and I were sleeping together. When I was her butler. And we're sorta gonna restart that. Case y'all didn't know." "We kinda figured, to be honest," Ben admits. "And regarding your theory, Josh," Joe adds, "That she was the one to kill Jorgio. I think it may have actually been my mother." "Oh, right, Jorgio," Rena nods, "I sorta forget he even died." "Yeah," Joe nods, turning to the nearby Del Barrio mansion, "A lot sure has happened." And then he turns around, and his friends are all gone, and so is he. Instead, Josh, Rena and Ben are all stood halfway down the street, which is miraculously clean, as we drift seamlessly into flashback. They watch as a car enters the Drive, proceeding to pull up outside the Del Barrio mansion, and then they catch their first glimpse of Joseph DeWar as he steps out and approaches the front door. Upon ringing the doorbell, Ali answers, cautiously asking if she may help him. "I'm here to apply for the open butler position," he replies, with a smile on his face. "Please, come in," she says after studying him, opening the door to motion Joe inside (see "Pilot"). Joe then takes his very first step into the site of Jose Sanchez's death, where he plans to investigate matters and prove his foster brother's innocence. Upon entry into the foyer, he finds himself greeted by none other than Jorgio Del Barrio. The pair's very first meeting. "Here to replace Jose, eh?" the intimidating scoundrel inquires, towering over Joe somewhat. Ali just sort of cowers in the background. "That's the plan," Joe responds, flashing a smile which Jorgio can't help but not return. He looks the boy up and down, there being a certain air about him that he can't quite put his finger on, and so he just replies with, "Cocky, aren't we?" "I prefer confident," Joe assures, "Name's Joseph DeWar. Pleased to meet you." He extends his hand for Jorgio to shake and, with reticence, the middle-aged man does just that. "Jorgio Del Barrio, as I'm sure you know. Well, Mr... DeWar?" Joe nods at this. Jorgio goes on, "The job is yours, if you want it." "Just like that?" "One can't be too picky following the incident in our home. I'm sure you heard about it." "The butler who was killed?" "Indeed. The agency keeps giving me attitude because of his murder. Entirely unfair. It's not as though multiple butlers have been slaughtered on my watch, and I don't plan for that to become the case." "Right," Joe responds, a little creeped out, "So the job is mine? Just like that? You don't wanna ask me any questions or anything?" "I find asking questions tends to do more harm than good," Jorgio spouts, "After all, Jose was such a fan of questions. And look where he is now." With that, Mr. Del Barrio just walks away, and Joe utters, "Nice to meet you too..." He then turns to the nervous Ali, who emerges from the corner and gives him a big thumbs up, accompanied by a smile she isn't used to purveying.
Ali emerges from her home in the present and beckons Ben inside, at which the other butlers figure that they should be getting back to their respective homeowners as well. As such, they bid each other goodbye, and Joe is left standing alone amid the trash, still limping awfully. "Houseboy!" a voice then calls, and Joe rolls his eyes when he sees Rochelle running his way, "Houseboy!" "Dear God, woman, what?" Joe exclaims, a little taken aback when he turns around and she's right there. Turns out she's surprisingly fast when out of her wheelchair. "You never exactly quit," she says through a croaky, grief-stricken voice, "And some of... some of Manny's blood is still on the p-pavement. I was wondering if you could... if you could just..." "I'll clean it up," Joe states, garnering many a "thank you" from Rochelle, but then he comes out with, "When you tell me everything I need to know about Silvia Applewhite. I know you were her maid. What else can you tell me?" Rochelle goes quiet at this, taken aback by the fact that she's being interrogated hours after her son's dead body has been taken away, and so she ends up replying, "You're right. I was her maid. I'll clean the damn blood up myself." With that, she begins walking away... and Joe notices a red dot landing on her temple. Knowing what's about to happen, he quickly tackles the old woman to the ground, saving her from the sniper bullet which is promptly fired into Selena's already wrecked car. "The hell?!" Rochelle yells, with Joe shakily helping her to her feet while at the same time looking to see where the gunshot came from. "Yeah," he utters, thinking he can spot the silhouette of Silvia scaling down a tree in the mid-distance, "there's definitely history there..."
And yet again, Silvia Applewhite finds herself running.
"Hey would you mind going down to the wine cellar and bringing up, like, a whole rack? Joanna's coming, so we should probably prepare," Ali says to Liz, the two gals in their bikinis, getting the poolside ready for a nice meeting with their friends to lounge in the sun. Though only the beginning of February, this is the first day in the new year in which the sun is out to shine, and Ms. Del Barrio wishes to take advantage of this by inviting all of her friends... "friends", over to catch up. "Why can't the butler do it?" Liz wonders, not even going to bother making an attempt at his name, and Ali reveals that she gave him the afternoon off. "I thought it be best it just be the two of us." "And because you're chickening out of talking about what happened last night, you're inviting the likes of Kathryn Kappelletti and Rochelle Little into our home?" "Indeed," Ali smiles.
We next see the ladies all gathered - Ali, Liz, Joanna, Rochelle, Kathryn, and Selena - bathing in the sun. "So like, are we just not gonna acknowledge that grandma is just up and out of her chair now?" Liz questions, with everyone directing their eyes at Rochelle. "Whatchu bitches lookin' at?!" she questions, "Ain't y'all ever had to fake paralysis before?!" She then scans Liz down, "If you ever wanna keep a man in yo life, you sure as hell will." Liz is of course offended by this remark, and all of the ladies sit up, their silent sun bathing having come to an end now. "Girls, can't we all just get along?" Ali wonders, the tension increasing, but Kathryn shushes Ali, saying that she's putting money down on a catfight between Liz and Rochelle before this sesh is over. "It is pretty sick that you'd fake paralysis all this time," Liz exclaims, "And that's coming from me." "It ain't no worse than you fakin' every damn orgasm you dun had with yo ex-husband. That poor black man ain't dun nuffin' to you. Instead he gotta come in and find you abusin' Mexican help, damn shame," Rochelle says in turn, to which Liz argues, "There was consent, whereas I've heard rumors about your STD-riddled daughter practically raping your butler." "Joe?" Joanna questions, this being the first she's hearing of her beau's relations with Aliza. "I'd just like to point out that I found Rochelle faking paralysis to be effing hilarious," Kathryn feels the need to say, though she goes ignored, even by Rochelle, who addresses Joanna, "My daughter ain't rape nobody. In fact she and Joe had a good thing goin' for them until yo white ass swooped in and stole him away from her." "You're seeing Joe?" Ali questions, to which Joanna states, "I'm pretty sure I told you this, to be honest. If not though then yeah, I guess that's something that should be out in the open." "Is it serious?" Liz asks, continuing, "Because I just got off on inflicting pain on my butler." "Ooh, yeah, you ladies go on using and abusing those stupid men!" Selena exclaims. "Yeah, I'd say we're pretty in love," Joanna admits, rather casually, ignoring Selena, "Just had to keep things on the down low when we were together before since Matthew had sorta just been mysteriously murdered." She then downs a large amount of wine, and Ali remembers, "Oh, didn't your sister-in-law show up? You never really explained how that went." "She came, she was about, and I sent her the hell away. Pretty irrelevant at this point, not gonna lie," Jo says, "Her visit was pretty extra." She then laughs though, "Ali you might wanna watch out though, because if you aren't careful then you could find yourself in bed with Ben." Ali looks a bit uneasy at this, giving a brief glance at Liz, who is just as equally uneasy. Joanna doesn't notice this though. "So like, I'm throwing a wedding and you're all invited!" Selena exclaims, reminding everyone that she's there. "Who the hell invited her?" Kathryn wonders, and Liz turns to Ali, who quickly denies having anything to do with it. "She's probably just following me," Joanna admits, "I once called her as a last resort to go clubbing, but the bouncer wouldn't let her in, so I just got absolutely wasted on my own. But yeah, pretty sure she thinks we're friends now." Selena, meanwhile, is completely unaware that she's not wanted, despite it being blatantly said to her. "So yeah, I'm throwing a wedding for my butler and my gardener," she reveals, which then catches Joanna's attention properly. "Josh is getting married?" she inquires, to which Kathryn then wonders who the hell Josh is. "Some white boy who once worked for me and needa mind his own," Rochelle states, but Jo motions that both of them shut up so that Selena can speak. "Yeah, he and my gardener, Juan. You're all invited!" Jo can't help but feel a little hurt that she wasn't told this before, despite still not being on the best of terms with Josh; however, attention is then shifted over to Kathryn, who calls out, with a sneer, "Hey Liz, what's new in cleaning?" commenting that the redhead should know considering her recent employment. "Hmm, I think they're working on drinkable bleach. Maybe we can get you some?" Liz suggests, and Kathryn fakes a chuckle. "Sorry, but carbs and such... But it doesn't seem like that's been any of your concern lately," she says, eying Liz from head to toe. Liz then looks down at her, for her figure is something that she is the most self-conscious about. "Ooh, drag her!" Rochelle speaks up, putting up her hand to give Kathryn a high-five. "If it means anything to you at all," Selena says to Liz, "I think your body's great. Plus size for the win!" And then Mrs. Davis reflexively strikes the tranny across the face. "Next time, I'll kill you," she says, rather bluntly, and Rochelle and Kathryn both smirk at one another. "Ooh, I just remembered you were into the whole male-beating thing. Very intriguing, you must show me sometime." And then Liz smacks Selena again. "I'm sorry, I thought you were a man," Liz then says to her, "but I forgot you were just some high school chemistry experiment gone-wrong." "I... Liz," Selena utters, ever-so-offended, "I thought we were my friends." "Jesus Christ, Selena, get the hell out of here. Honestly, you're such a freakin' disaster of a person. Transrights are a bunch of bull. Feminism is a bunch of bull. And Black Lives Matter is a bunch of bull." "Amen, to the last one, sista," Rochelle finds herself, for the first time ever, agreeing with Liz, who continues to Selena, "You're such a joke, that sometimes I don't know whether to laugh at you or feel sorry for you. Normally I go with the former, but yikes, 'woman', get help." "Triggered..." is all Selena can utter in turn to that, getting up from her seat next to Liz and walking as far away from her as she can, sitting next to Kathryn instead. "If you touch me, I will sell you into human trafficking," Mrs. Kappelletti says to Selena, and then looks up at Ali, "No offense. I'm sure you were good at what you did." Ali is taken aback by this, and both Liz and Joanna glare at Kathryn. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" Liz exclaims, to which Kathryn says, "I didn't mean to insult. Well, subconsciously I probably did." "Ali has done absolutely nothing to you, so leave her the hell out of all of this." "Jeez, no need to get all defensive over her. Makes you look a little lesbian-y, not gonna lie," Kathryn exclaims, and Ali and Liz give a quick, awkward glance at one another. Kathryn doesn't catch onto this, but Joanna does, though she decides to not say anything, leaving it up to her friends to hash out whatever it is they have going on in private. "And bitch, you're getting all butthurt over me teasing her when you bought her maternity clothes for Secret Santa," Kathryn then points out to Liz, who looks down, feeling actual guilt over that. Kathryn then laughs, "Wasn't she actually pregnant too? And then fell and crushed it or something? Ah, good times." "I had an abortion," Ali manages to correct, it being a hard thing to say, which proves ultimately pointless since Rochelle steals the attention. "Bitch, what you mean Secret Santa?! I wasn't part of no Secret Santa!" "Yeah, you weren't wanted," Liz says, bluntly, and Kathryn argues to her only friend, "I tried having them exclude Liz, but it was a majority rule." "Ooh, I remember Secret Santa," Selena recalls, "I invited my friend Lindsay for that." "Huh, I do vaguely remember there being some irrelevant old bitch here," Kathryn remembers, and Joanna agrees that she was a pretty random inclusion. "So like, I left Kevin," Kathryn then reveals, "I've decided life is too short, and I can succeed without him." "Yeah, you don't need no man!" Selena cheers, and Joanna just downs some wine, the thought of any of the Kappelletti brothers giving her bad memories. "You're just doing this because your reputation is toast since what happened with your sister-in-law," Liz takes the opportunity to point out, "That nut job has ruined everything for you, hasn't she?" "Um, no!" Kathryn tries, but Joanna is siding with Liz. "Honey, I fought that bitch," Mrs. Winters reminds her, going on to say, "She so ruined everything for you." Unable to bear Liz one-upping her, Kathryn decides that now is the time to say, "I made a pass at your almost-ex-husband." Having been mid-drinking, Liz finds herself spitting back into her glass, disgusted by the thought of this. "Has he pressed charges yet?" Mrs. Davis wonders, and Kathryn's smirk drops again. "I think there's a chance we'll get together," she tells Liz. "And I think there's a chance Donald Trump will be a good president," Liz says in turn. "Let's not make jokes," Selena speaks up, taking real offense to that comment, but Liz ignores her. "Eli finds you revolting," Liz says to her foe, but Kathryn shakes her head, "I'll wear him down. I always do." "He's sooooo gonna press charges, but mkay, sweetie." "You're just jealous!" Kathryn barks, becoming frustrated, but Liz shakes her head, grinning, "Nope, I'm just having fun thinking about how boring your sex life will be." Liz and Kathryn just stare at each other for a moment, while Ali, Jo, Rochelle and Selena stare at them. "Sooo..." Selena, then exclaims, breaking the silence, "were any of you in the Womyns' March?" "We're out of wine," Jo comments, pointing at the empty bottles lying around, about 90% of which she went through solely. "I can get more from the wine cellar," Ali suggests, but Jo states it won't be a problem. She reaches down for her purse where she pulls out two unopened bottles. "One for us, and then I brought one for you," she says to Ali, "I was looking through my collection, and I found that it's the same kind I gave you the first time I got you drunk." Ali is touched by this, setting the bottle aside, and Jo proceeds to crack open the other bottle. "Hey, wasn't there like a butler murdered here or something?" Kathryn then randomly recalls, subconsciously hoping this scores her some points against Liz; however, Mrs. Davis simply brushes this off. "Please," she says, "that was so last season." And so Kathryn shrugs, while Joanna turns to Ali, exclaiming, "Honestly, was it not just better when it was only you, me, and Liz?" "Maybe," Ali admits, "but this house always has been a breeding ground for animosity..."
"Jose!" Jorgio screams from within the Del Barrio mansion of the past, and Jose Sanchez, who's currently busy sweeping the balcony he'll one day be thrown off of, asks, "Whaaaat?" in an annoyed grunt. "Don't you take that tone with me, you little Mexican swine!" Jorgio barks, and Jose near rolls his eyes. "What could I do for you, Mr. Del Barrio?" the butler proceeds to ask in a faux polite tone, and Jorgio looks even more angry. Instead of reprimanding his employee for his sarcasm, however, he simply decides to get to the point, saying, "I told you to do the interviews for the new butlers today. After all, that French whore from across the street can't keep moonlighting here after the way the Winterses fired her." "Yeah I never liked her," Jose admits, "But you also told me to sweep the balcony. I can't be in two places at once." "Nor can I!" Jorgio barks, "I have work to get to, you know!" "Do you?" Jose questions, "What exactly do you do?!" "Now you know how much I hate questions," Jorgio reminds, "Especially dumb ones like that. Just get the hell downstairs, would you?" "Fine," Jose rolls his eyes, looking over the balcony and seeing none other than Benjamin Gold making his way past the back fence, "Looks like he'll be arriving any second now." Indeed, we follow Ben as he goes around the Del Barrio property, marveling at just how large it is, and finally makes it to the front door. Nervously, and with his resume in tow, he rings the doorbell, practicing the various ways in which he can say "hello" and then introduce himself. "Jose?" Ali calls out from inside, but he hasn't quite made it downstairs yet, and so she shrugs and goes to answer the door herself. "Can I help you?" is the first thing she asks upon her very first meeting with the man who will go on to become her closest friend and confidante, and he says, "Hello. Yes. I'm Benjamin Gold. I'm here to apply for the secondary butler position?" "Ah, yes, um... come on in, I guess," she nervously tells him, and Ben appears a little confused but heads on into the foyer anyway. "So, will you be conducting the interview?" Ben wonders, but Ali tells him, "Gosh no. I can't really do that kind of thing. I'm only good for standing here and looking pretty." Ben furrows his brow at this, for he can tell she's regurgitating someone else's words, and so he assures, "I'm sure that's not true." Ali smiles at this, and then Jorgio barks, "Alison!" as he comes booming down the stairs, and she freezes. Ben notices this and looks most displeased. "Mr. Del Barrio?" Ben questions, wanting to introduce himself, but Jorgio straight-up ignores him. "I'm going out," he tells his wife, "You should probably get downstairs." "Right," Ali nods, wanting to go to the kitchen to start preparing her silver tray, as she does everyday, but Jorgio stops her by grabbing her arm. "Forgetting something?" he questions. "Right," Ali nods again, giving her husband a very reluctant kiss before he barges past Ben to leave for... wherever. Ben is most discomforted by this, wanting to talk to Mrs. Del Barrio after, but she's already scurried off to the kitchen to begin preparing food for the basement girls - not that Ben knows that, obviously. "You here for the butler job?" Jose then asks as he makes his way downstairs with his hands in his pockets. "Um, yeah," Ben replies, wanting to hand his resume to someone, "I'm Ben." "Jose," Jose says as he takes the resume, briefly looking over it. "Can you clean?" he asks. "Yeah..." Ben responds, as though it's obvious, "I was a janitor for several y--" "Can you cook?" "Yes." "Can you keep a secret?" "What?" "Joke. The job's yours," Jose unceremoniously announces, handing the resume back over. "Seriously?" "Yup. Interview over. Woo, that was hard work for me. I'mma go relax. Maybe at the park."
Ben can be seen sitting in the park at the end of Fanon Drive in the present, looking out at the horizon, at the WIKERLY HILLS sign in the distance, and sighing deeply as he thinks to himself. "You know," comes the voice of Valentina Cortez from behind, making the hair on Ben's neck stand on end, "I heard they were scrapping this whole area to make way for a movie studio. Don'tcha just hate industry sometimes?" "The only thing I hate here is you," Ben retorts, wanting to remain strong as he turns to face her, "What the hell are you doing here?" "What am I doing here?" Val repeats, "What are you doing here? The very same spot you proposed to Justine." "I like coming here to think." "And I like coming here to torment," she smiles, "I recognize the dreary little locale from the snap she sent me last year. I screenshotted, of course. Her little picture of this." And then Val takes out the engagement ring Ben gave to Justine, for she still has it from her mini blackmail scheme of once upon a time. "Poor girl was trying to make me jealous, but, like, you didn't even spring for a princess cut, so I wasn't much perturbed." "What do you want, Val?" Ben just sighs. "Not this ring, that's for sure," she smirks, "Then again..." She places it onto her ring finger, "Maybe I could pull it off. You do propose to any girl that dares sleep with you, right? Well I fall into that category now, so..." "Val," Ben hisses, now angry, wanting her gone. "Of course, I won't really be able to wear this once my fingers swell up in a few months." "What?" "Oh, right," she smiles some more, "That's why I'm here. To tell you the good news." She begins rubbing her stomach with her ring-encrusted hand. "No..." Ben utters. "I know!" Val exclaims, "Who'd have thought lightning could strike after just the one time? I guess those hormones I injected myself with really meant business, huh?" "No!" Ben yells, and then her smile fades, turning into a face of pure hatred. "Yes," she states, stepping in closer. He is frozen in shock, and so she is able to lean in and whisper in his ear, "You're gonna be a daddy, Daddy. Because this is my revenge. From now on, you are going to be committed to me. You are going to spend the rest of your life stuck doing menial labor, and any stray penny you earn will either go towards supporting myself, or putting clothes on the back of your rape baby." "You're insane..." Ben finally manages to utter, tears welling up in his eyes. "Aren't I though?" she asks, touched, stepping back, "I mean, I've always wanted a child. So have you. And I so love turning people's desires against them. See, if I can't send you to jail, which would be kinda basic, I'll turn your life into one. With this baby, I thee trap." "But I'll send you to jail," he exclaims, "For raping me!" "I'd like to see you try," Val smirks, "And try not to let the stress get to you, dear. I don't want this baby to grow up without a father. But, um, if you do end up blowing your brains out... say 'hi' to Justine for me."
A close-up is then shown of Justine Dussault's lips as she bites down into a Twinkie, sometime into the past. "Mmmmm..." she utters aloud, devouring the sugary treat and leaving behind some sugar on the corner of her lips. She then turns around, and we see Rena standing behind her, holding two pieces of paper - a job application and his résumé. "So basically I like really need this job," the future butler says, "and who better to work for than Elijah and Elizabeth freakin' Davis, amirite?" Justine just blinks at the Portuguese standing before her, and decides to not have another Twinkie. "You bathe daily?" she asks, to which Rena responds, "Uh, yeah?" "And you put down toilet seat? And wash hands?... Okay, forget last one. Even I no do that entirely. But you put down toilet seat?" "Yes..." Rena utters, confused as to why these are the kinds of questions being asked of him. Justine then eyes him from head to toe, her arms crossed. "You look sorta like rapist criminal," she admits, and Rena's jaw just drops. "Um..." "Don't rape of me and don't criminal of me, how you say, okay?" "Okay..." "Good, you have job then," Justine exclaims, satisfied with how this went. She proceeds to leave for the kitchen in order to microwave a bag of popcorn, and Rena follows her. "You're not gonna ask me any more questions?" he wonders, and Justine shrugs her shoulders. "What is credit card information of you?" "Uh..." "Joke! Take joke, butler! Ugh, you is no real fun much, are you? Oh well," she says, then pointing to a box of Twinkies, "Have one and we bond maybe, no?" Still taken aback a bit, Rena approaches the box of Twinkies, all the while Justine stares him down. She watches as he unwraps the treat and begins to stuff it into his mouth to chew down on; she's disgusted. "Ew! Ew! Ew!" "What?!" Rena questions, his mouth stuffed. "Pig! You eat like Pig!" she says, "I... I call you Pig now! Pig!" She then begins mumbling stuff under her breath in French, returning to the microwave for her popcorn to finish popping, and Rena is just left astounded.
This was a different time, however, and we now see Rena and how his life is today. He and his date, Maria Solano, make their way inside of the Winters' mansion. Every night for the last week or so they've been meeting up, getting drinks, and just talking about life. Tonight Rena has decided to bring her home, and upon entering the mansion, they find Joanna lying across the couch, chugging down a bottle of red. She looks up, mid-chug, and is startled to see that her butler has company. "Oh," she exclaims quickly sitting up, "hi!" She puts the bottle down, and Mary can't help but smirk as Joanna stands up to shake her hand. "I'm Jo," she says, introducing herself. Mary shakes Mrs. Winters' hand, who just glances at the famous writer, director and producer up and down. "When you said you weren't gay, you weren't kidding," she says to the help. Rena blushes, and it doesn't take Joanna long to realize that three's a crowd. "I'm... gonna go take a walk," she says, smirking at the butler. Though he doesn't say anything, Rena is thankful for his employer taking the hint, and Jo grabs the bottle to take with her. "It was nice meeting you, Mary," she says, giving a wave, before seeing herself out. Once gone, Mary comments to Rena that she seems nice. "I just hope I don't have anything to worry about." "Oh, don't worry, she's doing my best friend," Rena laughs, though this only confuses Mary some. They decide to shift away from this though, making their way to Joanna's bar where Rena goes behind the counter to whip them up some drinks. "So this is what you do for a living?" Mary questions, and Rena confirms, though adding that he hopes to not do so forever. "It seems so... simple," Mary admits, "But not in a bad way. Yunno, just kinda cushy. Easy. Something that my job isn't." "Well I'd imagine so," Rena says, mixing some stuff together, "Writer, producer, and director... you sure keep busy." "I do, don't I..." Mary recalls. "But right now I'm stuck in a slump," she admits, "Writers' block." "Oh?" "I just can't seem to come up with any good ideas lately," she says, "All my material is pretty much 'been there, done that'. Quite a nuisance, really." It's then that Rena finishes whipping together his date's drink, which she chugs down in an instant, though commenting on how he makes a killer tequila slammer. Rena smiles, glad to see that she liked it. "And I'm sure you'll get some inspiration soon," he says, "Just keep on keeping on." And he hands Mary another drink, who replies, "I can toast to that," which they then do, and she downs the drink.
...And in the past we see Joanna Winters chug down a glass of red, walking through her home with Josh close behind her, having welcomed him in to interview for the new butler position. "You atheist?" she asks, curious for his response. Josh appears somewhat surprised at this question, though answering with a "yes", and Mrs. Winters gives a smirk. "Ooh. Matthew ain't gonna like that." (see "Beauty and the Tryst") As the two walk through the dusty mansion, Joanna apologizes for the mess. "I had to fire my maid recently because of reasons, and my part-time butler, that worm, is pretty incompetent if we're being completely honest here." Guiding Josh into the living room, she motions that he sit down, while she takes a seat adjacent to him and grabs a new bottle of red wine off of a rack next to her. "You drink?" she asks, but doesn't give him a chance to respond before filling and handing him a glass, "In this house you do." Josh awkwardly takes it, and Jo has some of her own, the two proceeding to wait in silence for a moment before Matthew finally joins them. "Sorry, hon, had to take care of a few things first," he says, giving his wife a kiss on the cheek. He looks and sees Jo has broken out a bottle of wine for the interview, and he just looks at her, for a moment thinking that perhaps she'd have the courtesy to pour him a glass too. "You want something?" she asks, and Matthew decides to not bother, instead taking a seat with his wife and the potential help. "So, Josh, is it?" Mr. Winters asks, and Josh nods in confirmation. "First I'd like to thank you for faxing in your résumé. I had a chance to look over it before you came, and I was surprised by just how qualified you really were... You actually attended a school for the job?" "After secondary school, I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life... but hey, I always did have a thing for keeping things clean." "And I commend you for that!" Matthew exclaims, taking a real liking to Josh. "Now may I ask, if it isn't too personal, are you a man of God?" Joanna can't help but smirk at this comment, downing the rest of her drink, already knowing Josh's answer and what her husband's reaction will be, and Josh just looks at Jo in a bit of a panic. "I..." he utters, "no, not really, to be honest." Of course, Matthew's image of Josh is now tainted. "Oh," he says, then turning to Joanna, wanting a drink to stomach this, but sees that she's currently chugging down the last of the bottle she just opened. "Is that going to be a problem?" Josh asks Matthew, regarding his religion, or lack thereof, and Matthew is a bit hesitant to answer. "No," Joanna then speaks up, "it's not. At all. In fact, I think this interview is over. You're hired." "Really?" Josh questions, to which Matthew adds, "Really?" "Yeah, I like him. And you did say after the incident with Justine that I could make the final decision on who we hire next." "I suppose, but--" "Good, so the matter's settled." Mrs. Winters proceeds to pull another bottle of wine from the rack, handing it to her husband. "For your trip back upstairs," she says, and so Matthew leaves, deciding not fight this. Seeing that he's gone, Jo finally sighs, pulling out another bottle for herself and Josh. "So here's the thing," she says, "I need a friend in this house. You're clearly qualified to work here, your lack of religion is gonna bother the hell out of Matthew, and you seem pretty cute." "I'm gay," Josh feels the need to point out, but Jo pours and hands him his second glass, exclaiming, "That's even better." Josh can't help but smile at this as Jo pours herself a new glass too. She then puts the bottle down and raises her glass to clink against Josh's. "Now, talk to me," Mrs. Winters says, the beginning of what was once a beautiful friendship.
In the present day, Josh is now standing in Selena's kitchen, having cracked open the bottle of wine Joanna had sent over, and is waiting for a caller to pick up on the other line. Soon enough though, someone does - it's Brad - who answers with a "hey..." "Hey..." Josh utters back, "I just... I wanted to thank you for kinda saving my life the other day, at the riot and all." "It was no big deal, really," Brad tries to brush off, but Josh believes otherwise. "Well," Brad says, "if that's all, then I think I'm gonna go now." But Josh states that there was something else he needed to tell his former beau. "Before you found out from someone else... I, um... I'm getting married this weekend." "Oh..." "Yeah... to Juan." Josh doesn't know this, but currently Brad finds himself having to take a seat. He's realizing that it really is over between them, and he just stares at velvet box, sitting propped up on the coffee table with the ring he bought for Josh showing. "Are you happy?" he finally brings himself to ask, and Josh finds himself at crossroads. To be frank, he isn't happy, and is only doing this because he thinks he's ruined his chances with Brad forever; however, if he's meant to make this new arrangement appear real... "I am. I really am," he ultimately lies. "Well, that's all I've ever wanted... even if it wasn't with me." Josh is taken aback by this, but before he's given a chance to say anything, Brad tells him goodbye and hangs up the phone. "Brad--" Josh tries, but it's too late. He contemplates calling back, but decides not to when he starts to hear people talking in the other room. Going to see what's going on, he's taken by surprise when finding Juan and Selena on the sofa amidst a large stack of wedding portfolios, address books, recommended catering company lists, etc. "You must have a female minister!" Selena tells Juan, stating that otherwise there's no point in doing any of this. Juan notes this down, given that Selena is paying for everything, and Josh finds himself asking what the hell is going on. "Wedding plans, duh," Juan says, but Josh is confused. "I thought we were just gonna run down to the courthouse, sign a couple documents, maybe invite a few friends..." "Oh, no no no, that just won't do," Selena speaks up, "That's far too inappropriate of a way to enter into a marriage." "Isn't a wedding supposed to be the bride's big day?" Josh inquires, and Selena goes silent, not exactly knowing how to answer. With her distracted, Josh proceeds to turn to Juan. "We don't have to do all this," he says, but Juan states that Josh is already doing him such a big favor by marrying him. "Let me make it up to you," he says, "Besides, invitations have already been sent out, and the church has been booked." "Who'd you invite?" Josh wonders, and Juan proceeds to reveal, "Your friends, my friends... Selena invited pretty much everyone on Fanon Drive so she could show off how good of a wedding she can throw, and Kathryn Kappelletti, who she's convinced is her friend... And then I invited your mother." "My mother?..." "I know you said you two aren't on speaking terms, but I thought it'd be nice to reach out to her," Juan reveals. "And did she say yes?" Josh wonders, but Juan is a bit hesitant to reply. "Well..." he utters, "she's yet to RSVP no." "Oh, I got it!" Selena exclaims, re-joining the conversation, "You have to have an appropriate wedding because even though you're not a woman, it's about 78 cents to the dollar as important since marrying you two off saves two innocent womyn from having to bear spending their lives with you instead." Josh can't even manage forming a response to this, and so he just blinks.
The light of the desklamp makes Joe blink nervously. "And you wanna be an officer in my precinct because...?" Leitenant Huberd asks him in flashback, during his interview to be on the force. "Well I've lived in this town my whole life and... I wanna help people," a fresh-faced Joseph DeWar replies from across the desk, "Plain and simple." He purveys an innocent smile.
"If you were still on the force, that whole riot thing never would've happened," Meghan assures Joe as he visits her and Tyson in their trailer. "I know, Ma, I know." "Now what's this about some stalker being your real mother? How long've you been sitting on that one?" "Sorry," Joe apologizes, "I've needed some time to process it, is all." "Is Joe okay?" Tyson asks as he approaches his mother. "I'm fine, Tyson," Joe assures in reference to his faded cuts and bruises from the riot, "Just a little banged up, is all." "Did you get 'em back?" Tyson wonders, and Joe reveals, "No. The police did, though. Most of them, anyway." "Hard to imagine that incompetent Hall could accomplish anything," Meghan states, "I mean, why is he not rotting in a jail cell right now? He's a murderer." "Sometimes justice is blind," Joe sighs. "Well it wouldn't be if you got yourself back on the force," Meghan exclaims. "Ma," Joe halts her, "What's with me and the force? I can't go back." "Are you sure?" Meghan wonders, "I just... I need to know you're happy." "What's going on?" Joe wonders, and so Meghan turns to Tyson and tells him that the table is looking a little glum. She requests that he go pick some flowers from outside in order to brighten the place up a bit. "Sure thing!" Tyson exclaims, excitedly running out, and once he's gone Meghan turns back to Joe and admits, "I haven't told him yet. I don't think he'd understand." "Told him what?" Joe needs to know, and his foster mother takes a deep breath before finally admitting, "I have the cancer." Joe's eyes widen at this. "What?" "It's why I called you over. I... I thought you should know." She begins to tear up, then apologizing, because she's been trying to keep it together. "You don't have to be sorry," Joe tells her, reaching out his hand to take hers, tearing up himself, "How... Is it... is it serious?" "Honey, it's cancer," she makes clear, wiping her eyes with her spare hand. "I know, I just..." "Six months. That's the rough estimate they have me. Maybe more, maybe less, but... definitely no more than a year. It's already started spreading." "I can't believe this," Joe weeps, "I can't... I can't lose you." "You won't," Meghan assures, holding his hand with both hers now, "I'll always be with you." "You've always been with me. All this crap about my 'real' mother and... I've not been paying enough attention to the only mother I've ever had." Meghan smiles at him through her tears, saying, "That's sweet. Though maybe it's time you reach out to this other woman. Talk to her. Because if you don't... you're gonna end up having no mother at all." This is incredibly daunting for Joe.
"Them dirty pigs just dun gone shot my boy down," Rochelle utters, sipping tea with Kathryn Kappelletti in the dining room of the Littles' house. "Oh, Rochelle, I'm so sorry," Kathryn says in turn, genuinely, "I'll definitely drop their names in the next episode of Kicking Off with the Kappellettis. In my final scene, too, when I write myself off to pursue bigger and better things." "Aw, girl, you such a doll," Rochelle exclaims, as the two both sip their tea. Aliza, meanwhile, passes through as she devours a bag of porkrinds, eating through her emotions after the death of her brother. Not bothering to acknowledge Rochelle or Kathryn, Aliza finds Joe in the other room as he washes some windows. "Hey," she exclaims, holding out her bag of porkrinds, "you want some?" "I think I'll pass," Joe says in turn, and Aliza states that they have some booze in the kitchen if he'd rather that. "You know what? I'll take a few," he says, reaching into the bag for a handful. "And you don't gotta keep doin' that," she says, referring to the windows, "After everything's that happened, you still dun gone worked your booty off in this home. Take a break, mkay?" "Aliza--" "Nah, boy, take the rest of the day off, go for a walk, clear your mind. I think we all deserve some time off like that." Joe decides to not argue this; he just smiles, thanking Aliza, and decides to head out. "Yeah, you go screw that rich white bitch down the street and--" But Aliza cuts herself off, reminding herself that there's no hard feelings, and she goes back to munching on her porkrinds. Joe, meanwhile, lets himself into the Winters' mansion where he finds Joanna kicking back with a glass of red. "Oh, hey," she exclaims, putting her glass down to get up and greet her boyfriend with a kiss, "I thought you weren't stopping by till later?" "Aliza gave me the rest of the day off," he reveals, and Joanna is thrilled to have more time with him. "We should go out," she suggests, "Fancy restaurant, see a movie, then come back here for lots and lots of sex." Joe likes the sound of this, commenting on how much lost time they really need to make up for, and the two kiss a bit, making their way to the sofa to get more comfortable. She inquires about how his day has been, and Joe states that it wasn't going all that well before coming here. "You still reeling over what happened during the riot, with your mother?" she understands, and Joe nods. "But then I went to see my real mother today... well, the woman who raised me. So yeah, my mother... Anyways, I found out she has cancer." Joanna is taken aback by this, uttering how sorry she is. "Is it serious?" she then wonders, to which Joe points out that it's cancer; however, he explains that she has six months left. Joanna pulls her beau in for a hug, exclaiming, "Just know I'm here for you... for the both of you, even. Really, whatever I can do, I will." "Thank you," Joe says, "but you just being by my side is enough." The two kiss again, and the two start fiddling with each other's hands. It's then that Joe looks at one of Joanna's, and notices, "You're not covering your scar anymore?" Joanna confirms this, stating that there's really no point anymore. "Besides, it's refreshing being able to be real around you." "It is," Joe agrees, happy with where their relationship is now. "I just wish I didn't have to be around the Littles," he then admits, "The pay is okay, and Aliza is pretty nice to me..." "But after your two's little endeavor..." "Yeah..." "Well why do you have to be around them?" Joanna proceeds to wonder, confusing Joe a bit. "I mean," she decides to clarify, "you took that job because you couldn't work for me anymore, yes?" "Yes." "But why don't you just work for me again? Come back and be my butler like you were before... with benefits, of course," Joanna suggests, and it's only now dawning on Joe that that's actually an option. "I like the sound of that," Joe says, and the two kiss again; however, something else crosses his mind. "But that would mean--" he starts, only for Rena to come downstairs, and take a seat on the couch, right in between Joe and Joanna. "Hey, guys," he greets, "What's up?" And Joe and Joanna just look at each other, knowing and dreading what they'll have to do next.
Josh, meanwhile, returns to Selena's house after having been sent out to pick up some groceries. As he unloads the car, holding a few bags, he can't help but take out his phone and stare at an old picture of him and Brad. Sighing at what could've been, he puts his phone back into his pocket and proceeds inside. He makes his way into the kitchen, putting the bags down on the counter when he overhears more chattering coming from the other room. It's Selena and Juan again, who appear to be unaware that he's home. "By the way, thanks for everything," Juan says to Selena, "Without you, none of this would have worked. Once Josh and I sign those documents, I'll be an official U.S. citizen, and I can start receiving shipments again." "The drug shipments!" Selena feels the need to emphasize, and Juan rolls his eyes. "Yes, sweetie." "And you're getting me a good deal on feminist pills?" "Um, yeah... I'll get you all the feminist pills," Juan lies, exciting Selena. Josh meanwhile, is confused by what BS his fiancé is chatting, and Selena goes on about how she can't wait to slip them into mens' drinks at bars. "Soon I'll have succeeded as the Social Justice Warrior." "Yeah, whatever. The only downside of all this is having to spend the next two years of my life with Josh, of all people. Honestly, can't stand him. So problematic, and I suspect he killed Joanna Winters' husband, to be honest." And he then laughs, "Probably out of revenge for getting me deported. He always was clingy..." Selena doesn't seem to care about this though, as she continues thinking about the future she's promised; however, Josh does care, as he's just heard all of this. "You son of a bitch," he then exclaims, barging into the room, startling both Selena and Juan. The latter, who is most taken aback by all of this, gulps. "I... Josh, um... it's not what you think?" he tries, but Josh shakes his head, utterly enraged. He looks around, and finally settles on a hideous vase, which he then picks up and throws against the wall, smashing it to pieces. Selena screams at the top of her lungs, jumping up to run upstairs and take shelter in her panic room, whereas Juan jumps up, hoping to calm Josh down. "Listen--" he tries, but Josh interrupts, "No, you listen! What the absolute hell is wrong with you?! You ruined my life!" "Josh!" "Everything was going so well! I was happy! I was in love! But you knew all of this, and you still ruined everything! I was dumb enough to think you did this out of love, but... but you're sick." Josh is now in tears, disgusted and appalled at what he allowed to happen. Juan doesn't quite know what to say, given that every accusation Josh has just made about him is pretty much true. "Josh... come on?" he attempts, but Josh shakes his head. "I'm done here," he says, "With this. With you. I'm done." He then pulls out his phone where the picture of him and Brad is still on display. "I'm gonna go now," he says, proceeding to walk away; however, he then stops and turns back, looking at the staircase. "And Selena?" he calls out, as she pokes her head out from behind, having actually stayed to watch as this confrontation went down, "I quit." Her eyes widen in horror, the thought of her biggest project having been a failure. "Josh!" she calls out, but he doesn't listen, and instead storms out of the Washington house and slams the door behind him.
We next see the door to Brad's apartment open, with Brad there himself, faced with Josh. "I was an idiot," he says, the start of what he had planned to be a long monologue of begging for Brad's forgiveness after everything that had happened; however, this isn't necessary, for Brad immediately embraces his former lover in a long, passionate kiss. "Indeed you were," the lawyer finally agrees, inviting Josh inside, wanting to finish things there. Though, before making it too far inside, Brad sees fit to pick up the spare key he has left nearby. "I believe this is yours?" he questions, and Josh about tears up again as he takes the key, grasping it, never wanting to let it go again. He and Brad then resume making out, eventually collapsing on the couch where things transpire from there. A reconciliation has been made, but there's of course more things to cum. In the meantime, the camera pans over to the coffee table next to where Josh and Brad currently have make-up sex; on it is the velvet box, with the ring still displayed…
"And now for the chateau in France," Gregory Keating exclaims, acting as Eli's divorce lawyer, facing Liz and her lawyer, "I think my client deserves that." "But we've already allowed your client the yacht, the New York penthouse, the Monet and the Manet." "Yes, but your client won't be traveling the world for work... speaking of which, we'd also like the private jet." "You can't be serious!" the unnamed lawyer tries, but Greg confirms that he is. "It would have been Eli's money that paid for all of this, so I believe he's entitled to whatever he pleases." "Any money acquired after the couple was married belongs to the both of them!" However, Greg can't help but laugh at how idiotic this rival lawyer is. "Read the pre-nup," he states, "Your client is entitled to next to nothing." "Um, given what Eli has put me through, I think I deserve everything," Liz finally speaks up, though this really doesn't help her case any. "You had a fricken' affair..." Greg utters, disgusted, but Liz states she was driven to it. Standing up, she points at her soon-to-be ex-husband. "You don't understand how awful it was to be married to this man. To be shamed, to be silenced, and kept to the side as nothing but arm candy." "Mrs. Davis!" Greg speaks, but Liz shushes him. "And at this point he's no better than I am, exposing me to the world and humiliating me. He deserved to be cheated on." Eli remains silent throughout all of this, still feeling some shame for what he did to Liz. Liz starts to notice though, how quiet her husband has been. "And you can't even be man enough to face me, can you? Pathetic... Maybe I should've been putting you in your place instead of Rena." She proceeds to grab her bag, seeing fit to leave. "This meeting is over," she says, storming out, and Eli just looks down feeling guilty.
"Ali?" Liz then calls, making her way into the Del Barrio mansion. She's disappointed to only find Ben on his way out, but nonetheless she asks him if he's seen his boss. "Check the den," he suggests, and Liz thanks him; however, before letting him go, she stops him, looking him down from head to toe. "Huh," she exclaims, to Ben's confusion. "What?" he asks. "Oh, nothing, just you don't look entirely like a hobo today." "Um..." Ben responds, but then sighs, deciding to take this as a compliment, "Thanks," he says, and Liz smiles. The two then part ways, with Liz going to find Ali, and Ben leaving the Del Barrio mansion; however, as he pulls the door to close it shut, it doesn't click, and so the door is left slightly open. Liz, meanwhile, makes her way to the den where Ali is sat on the couch reading a book. "I never thought I'd ever find myself quoting that mutation, but... I hate men," Liz states, causing Ali to furrow her brow and put the book down.
We next see the two, sometime later, sitting on the sofa with the lights dimmed, some background music playing, and a bottle of wine cracked open for the two to share. "Courtesy of Joanna," Ali exclaims, clinking her glass to Liz, who wonders if all this is necessary. "Why not?" Ali wonders, going on to argue that it just makes everything... nicer. "I guess it does," Liz agrees, having a sip of her wine. "So the divorce is rough?" Ali inquires, and Liz nods in confirmation. "Eli got Gregory Keating as his divorce lawyer, and I'm stuck with this moron who didn't think to even look over my pre-nup." "So you're being cleaned out?" "Well, so far Eli's gotten pretty much everything. I'm basically leaving this marriage with exactly what I entered this marriage with, which basically makes these last years of my life absolutely pointless. By the time this is over, I'm gonna have so many legal bills to deal with too... Oh dear God, I'm probably gonna have to get a job again," Liz exclaims, on the verge of tears. Ali, however, shakes her head. "I won't let that happen," she says, "I'll cover all of that, just worry about getting out of that marriage." Liz is ever-so-grateful for this. "I don't deserve you," she utters, and Ali gives her a light kiss. "But I want you," she says, "I know we've not really talked much about what happened, but... Liz, I think there's something between us, and I'd like to see what that is." It takes Liz a moment, but finally she nods. "I'd like that too," she says, then giving Ali a kiss. "But I can't keep taking your money," she says, to Ali's surprise. "If we're gonna make this work... I can't keep leeching off of you like this. I can't repeat what happened with Eli... so I'm gonna go out and find a job." "Liz, you don't have to." "But I want to. When I first got here, I talked to... I think his name was Ben, and he was telling me that eventually you'd see me for who I am. Well, when you do, I'd like for it to be someone who you can actually be proud of and admire, rather than someone you'd be ashamed of and despise." Ali just smiles at this though, stating, "I think you're off to a good start." The two then lean in once more and kiss, this time longer and more passionately. They decide to put down their drinks so they can fully embrace one another; they each reach behind the others back, and bras are unhooked, and dresses are unzipped...
Meanwhile, outside of the Del Barrio mansion, Eli makes his way across the property line, and to the front door. In his hands he holds a bouquet of flowers, seeming like he's about to go and talk to Liz and perhaps apologize for everything that's gone on between the two as of the late.
Liz, meanwhile, is lying on her back, in the nude, on the sofa of the den in the Del Barrio mansion. Ali is on top of her as the two passionately make out, completely unaware that they have company outside.
Eli paces back and forth for a moment, wondering if he can bring himself to knock, but soon enough he does. There's no answer, but due to Ben's carelessness, the door pushes right open. Looking in the driveway, he sees that Liz's car is there, signifying that she's home, so he sees no crime in just inviting himself inside.
Liz is still on her back, with Ali, meanwhile, having moved down to her lover's nether regions. Ms. Del Barrio is surprisingly very good at what she is doing, as Liz is enjoying every minute of it.
Eli looks around the foyer of the Del Barrio mansion, but then he starts to hear a moan come from nearby. Confused, he goes to investigate, and it doesn't take him long to wander into the den where he stumbles upon Liz - his wife, the woman he had once vowed to spend the rest of his life with, the woman who he had found only a few months earlier dressed in leather and electrocuting their butler, the woman who he was about to forgive for that and attempt to reconcile with - now receiving oral sex from one of his female neighbors. The moaning increases, to Eli's absolute disgust, but then turns into a horrendous scream when Liz finally realizes the intimidating black man standing before her and Ali. Ali quickly comes to a halt as well, and looks up, and is equally as shocked. There's silence between all three, and Liz looks and notices the bouquet of flowers Eli holds, realizing why he is there. "Eli..." she utters, feeling a bit of sorrow, but he just drops the bouquet and runs out. Liz closes her eyes, a sigh coming on, and then she calls out again: "Eli!" At that point, Eli is about out the door of the Del Barrio mansion, and Liz and Ali both hurry behind him, pulling their dresses back up, but forgetting to put on shoes, and their hair being a complete mess. "Eli, come back!" Liz shouts for her husband, but he refuses to listen, and Ali, who has been pretty silent throughout all of this, just taps her lover's shoulder. Liz turns to her, seeing her standing there. She then looks back at Eli, who is returning to his own home, and then back to Ali, who is there with her now. She smiles, and embraces Ali in a passionate kiss, no longer caring about Eli or anyone else, for that matter. It's a beautiful moment, one that goes on to be documented forever, because unbeknownst to them both, a camera has just snapped an image. From inside his car, we see that it's Jackson Deering, who grins at the sight of Elizabeth Davis making out with this unknown blonde. He proceeds to take out his phone and dial a number. Soon enough someone answers, and Jack greets, "Ms. Solano, you're not gonna believe what I just saw..." And he continues to watch as Liz and Ali then head back inside, and business resumes as normal on Fanon Drive, with Ben passing the car out on a walk.
"And now he wants to go to the police," Valentina says as she just sits there, staring into space, "and that isn't fair, right? I mean, all I can think about is how he, a man, had sex with me, a woman, and... I didn't enjoy it, you know? I didn't enjoy it, and there's nothing judicial about any of this. Men are the ones who need to be brought to justice. And it's not like I need to tell you that. I mean, you're you, after all. The justice-server. That's what they call you on the street, in case you didn't know. I remember when you first came here, and you wanted to know what I was paid in comparison to my male counterparts, and I could tell that you were so strong and willful and that you would never let any sort of... white male give you any kind of crap. Well I'm here. I'm brown. I'm woman. And I need your help. Because... women can't rape men. They just can't. Am I right?" "Oh, my dear sweet child," Selena James Washington replies from within her home, sitting on the opposite couch, "You are of course completely right. You did the right thing, coming to me." "I know I did," Val smiles sweetly. Innocently. "Do... do people really call me the justice-server?" Selena asks, flattered, and Val assures her that they "absolutely do". Now Selena's the one to smile. "Okay," she nods, "it just so happens that I am free after another male-busting scheme went down the tubes - not to offend victims of FGM - and I'm about to serve more justice than those Muslims did taking out those darn Islamophobes in 9/11!" "Um... yeah!" Val feigns a cheer, and Selena tells her, "I may no longer have any access to feminist pills, but I will help you take this man-ster down in whatever way that I can." "I had a feeling you would," Val nods, satisfied.
Rochelle is sitting with her feet up on the coffee table, watching TV as she comments, "Sure is nice restin' these tootsies 'gain. Forgot how hard it is to walk all damn day." "Rochelle," Joe then exclaims as he comes bursting into the room. Rochelle rolls her eyes. "Watcha want, boy, ya' bothrin meh!" With that, Joe takes the TV remote and switches it off, to Rochelle's utter fury. She moves her feet and stands up in a rage, only for Joe to then announce. "I quit." "What?" "And I need a favor." "Excuse me?!" Rochelle barks. "Consider it repayment," Joe responds, "for me saving your life the other night. And trust me, I fought the urge." "Come on now..." Rochelle begs. "And I'll even sweeten the deal," he goes on, "Whatever comes out regarding your history with Silvia Applewhite and Lily DeWar, I won't go to the police. At this point, I'm merely interested in knowing the truth." "Wh...what do you want me to do?" Rochelle would like to know, and Joe smiles. "And me," Aliza comments as she enters the room. The two turn to her, and she adds, "Whatever you're up to, I wanna help."
"Rochelle is gonna be bait," Joe is seen explaining to the other butlers as they meet at the cafe, "Silvia is obviously trying to kill her for whatever reason and I need a way to draw her out. So I'll park Rochelle in an open space... and wait. And that's where you guys come in. I'll need help actually... shall we say, capturing her. If I'm gonna learn the truth." The butlers look from one to the other, and finally all state, "We're in," in unison. Joe smiles, placing his hand in the center of the table, and they all place theirs on top of his, forming a circular bond. Ben is the one to ask where the ambush is to actually take place, and Joe says, "Leave that to me. I know of a place."
Joe is next seen strolling alongside Rochelle through the remote Wikerly Hills field where Emilie murdered her twin sister Joanna. "And just what the hell is to stop this crazy bitch from shooting me down with her damn sniper right here?" Rochelle asks Joe, who remains close to her. "Relax," Joe assures her as he helps her down the hill, staring out at some of the nearby yet sporadically planted trees, "I think I know how this woman operates. She doesn't wanna risk hitting me, as far as I'm aware." "As far as you're aware? Oh dear." "So hopefully... she'll move in for a short-range attack." And then... "My son, the detective," comes Silvia's voice from atop the hill. In her hand is the very same knife with which she slashed Jorgio Del Barrio's wrists. "Silvia," Rochelle utters, "How lovely to see you again." Silvia smiles deviously as she begins to wander down the hill, knife in tow. "You're looking well," the old woman tries. "Please," Silvia shrugs off, "I'm practically a peasant these days. But you? I know what you did now, you old bitch. And you are gonna pay!" "Now!" Joe then yells, at which point four people emerge from four separate trees stationed all around. Josh, Rena, Ben and Aliza all converge on Silvia from separate directions, and she looks incredibly confused as she becomes surrounded. Quickly, she tries stepping forward, wanting to stab Rochelle even if she is somehow captured, but Joe intervenes and tackles the knife off of her. Soon she's on the floor, looking up and around at the six people who have worked to subdue her. "My friend Kristi had this nifty trick," Rena then states as he presses a taser to Silvia's back, causing her to pass out onto the grass. "Let's load her up, I guess," Josh says to Aliza, after removing her hand from his buttocks, "A sentence I never thought I'd say." "Yet you said it so well," Aliza winks as she begins to help carry off Silvia's unconscious body. "I'm getting married, you should know," Josh tells Aliza. "To that Mexican gardener I keep seeing about?" "No, actually, to a lawyer," Josh makes clear. "You and Brad are back together?" Ben exclaims, happy, "Why didn't you say?" "Time and place, Ben..." Josh utters, to which the Scottish butler nods, "Right," and helps with the heavy lifting. As Joe watches his biological mother go, he nods and comments to himself, "Alright. Time to make her talk." Rochelle appears nervous.
Silvia's eye springs open, her pupil shrinking... although not that much, thanks to the dark. As she takes a look around at the dreary concrete walls, smeared with stains from God only knows what, and bolts and scratches from where people have tried to escape, she slowly comes to realize where she is. And it's when she moves her hand, but realizes she's barely able to do so thanks to the shackle keeping her right wrist connected to the wall via chain, that she finally exclaims, "No! Not here! Anywhere but here!" "That's right," Joe says, stepping out of the shadows, and his three butler friends follow him. Rochelle and Aliza remain standing in the corner, with the former still not so sure about confronting her old employer's daughter, and we come to see that the seven persons are all within the confines of the Del Barrio mansion basement. Specifically, the room where Jorgio would keep his whores locked up. "I hate to use this place," Ben admits, being the one to hold the key to her shackle, "but it did seem like the perfect place to hold you. Sorry." "Sorry?" Silvia screeches, "Sorry?!" And then she bursts forward, wanting to attack Ben, and all the butlers move back in fear. She can't move too far thanks to the chain, and Rena manages to take out his taser from earlier, on a lower setting, and stun her a little into submission. Watching this and recalling all the events leading up to it, Josh turns to Ben and asks in a hushed tone, "Are we bad people?" To this, Ben shrugs, saying, "At this point, we are what we are." "You don't need to be here long," Joe assures, standing over his weakened mother, now holding the knife that she earlier toted just to make himself appear extra threatening, "You just need to tell the truth." "The truth about what?" Silvia asks. "About you," Joe insists, "about why you've done... any of the things that you've done. Trying to kill Rochelle. Stalking me. Murdering Jorgio - one can presume." "Yes," Silvia nods, a smile creeping across her face, "one can." "You're proud of it?" Joe asks, and Silvia tells him, "Of course. Killing that old bastard was one of my proudest moments, really." "Then tell me why," Joe begs, kneeling down to face her; to look her in the eyes, "You're my mother. And I wanna know you. Please... let me understand." Silvia looks into his eyes as well... and sees herself in them. Her own eyes, staring back at her. And she begins to well up a little. As does he. "You wanna know where you came from," she comes to realize. "Yes," Joe nods with a small smile. "I get that," Silvia assures, "All I've ever wanted to know is... where I'm going. And I still surprise myself. But Joe... it feels so weird to say that. I used to avoid your name. So that I wouldn't get attached. But Joe - if I tell you, you're not going to like it." "I don't care," Joe insists, "Just do it. Please." The other butlers watch with great intrigue as Silvia takes a deep breath. Aliza is trying to watch too, while Rochelle just closes her eyes in preparation. Silvia begins:
I had such a wonderful life in Wikerly Hills, once upon a time. The heir to the Applewhite fortune.
We see a young Silvia standing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Applewhite, as her father shakes the hand of Jorgio Del Barrio. A photographer proceeds to take their picture, which will one day be discovered by Joe (see "Landlady and the Tramp" and "Sweeping Beauty").
I had money back then. And friends. I was a fun and pleasant person. My best friend, for a time, was a woman named Lily DeWar.
We are shown something we've seen before - Silvia and Lily walking arm-in-arm through the Applewhite mansion. They scuff the floor with their heels, to the anger of the maid who just cleaned it - Rochelle Little (see "Houseboy Who Cried Wolf").
But then it all changed. Rather suddenly, actually. And we just sort of... found ourselves waking up here. In this very room. About twenty-six years ago now, I think. So long...
Again, we see Silvia's eye burst open and her pupil shrink, and she turns to see her friend Lily in a similar predicament. Both of them are now scantily-clad and chained up in Jorgio's basement, amid the many other girls who are part of his long-lived sex trafficking business. They belong to him now. His whores.
I know you know all about Jorgio's little business. I know a lot about you. So, knowing what he turned us into... I'm guessing you can surmise what came next...
Jorgio is seen one day entering the basement room with a copper tray of food, taking the mystery meat product from on top of it and just sort of throwing it into the middle of the room. "Eat up," he tells his girls, "You'll need your strength." And then he takes a look around the girls, tray still in tow, before finally settling on Silvia. She shakes, crying, scared out of her mind, and he tells her, "You. You'll do for tonight." And he hits her with the tray before pouncing.
He had his pick of the girls. Whenever he was feeling it. And he wasn't exactly big on protection, so...
The next we see Silvia in the basement, she has a much larger stomach. Still with a malnourished look about her, she's somehow managed to carry a baby to term. Jorgio Del Barrio's baby. And then suddenly the other girls squirm and squeal in horror as a puddle protrudes from between her legs, and she starts screaming.
I got pregnant. And then I went into labour on this here floor.
"It's okay," Lily, who still resides next to her, tries to assures, "I'm here. It's okay." She gives Silvia her hand to squeeze, and Silvia grips it tight as the pain of labor consumes her. She pulls on Lily's hand so hard - not that Lily even minds - that the bolt keeping Lily's shackle attached to the wall... actually starts to loosen. Jorgio then enters the basement room after unlocking it, stating, "Clearly I need to have this place soundproofed better."
Jorgio took me upstairs, to one of the bedrooms, to deliver the baby himself.
"Push, you imbecilic bitch, push!" Jorgio is heard screaming as Silvia screams legitimately, sweating and crying and then finally, after all that... Joe is born. Silvia holds him in her arms, staring at him with a mixture of love and hatred.
We're taken back to the present, Joe crouching across from Silvia as she confesses the whole sordid tale. "Jorgio Del Barrio... was my father?" he weeps, and Silvia nods, weeping even harder. The other butlers can't believe it either, with Ben even stepping forward and placing a hand on his friend's shoulder as a sign of comfort. "Is that the worst of it?" Joe wonders, to which Silvia explains, "No. I'm afraid there's more..."
Jorgio was a cruel man, as you know. He allowed me to stay in that room for the proceeding few weeks, with you. I think his intention was to have me bond with you, so that it would be all the more painful when he inevitably took you away.
Silvia sits there in bed, recovering slowly, still staring down at Joe with that mixed look in her eyes.
But that plan sort of backfired. Because I didn't grow attached. I couldn't bring myself to love you. All I could think was... you were a spawn of him. How you'd just end up like him. And so... I wanted you gone.
The baby, without even a name yet, is placed onto the bed beside Silvia. She then takes a pillow and contemplates suffocating it to death.
I hated him so much. I felt anything connected to him should die. And I still carry that belief, in all honesty. But Lily... she didn't.
"Silvia, stop!" Lily is heard crying, suddenly bursting into the room and scooping up the baby in order to protect it from her friend. "What are you doing here?" Silvia asks, in shock, and then, "I-I have to!"
It seemed she'd been slowly working on an escape. Waiting for the right time to make a break for it.
We flash back to Lily, earlier that day, pulling on the loosened chains. Finally, they clink free, and then she hides them as Jorgio comes for his visit. To her utter relief, the door doesn't shut quite properly behind him, and she's able to shake away her shackles and sneak off into the house. "I'll come back for you if I can," she promises the other girls through whisper as she makes her getaway.
She wanted to rescue me, I think. But she had to rescue you instead.
Lily continues to clutch the baby, shocked by what Silvia was about to do. "Give it back, Lily," Silvia orders, turning angry. "No... I... No..." Lily fumbles. "Lily!" Silvia barks, but she gets a, "No!" in response. And then she runs out of the room, baby in tow. Seeing a way out with the door finally open, Silvia gets up... and she begins to give chase. Out of the house. Into Wikerly Hills.
I chased her all through the town. And I'm sure you know what happened next.
We cut to Lily banging on the door to the church, begging for sanctuary, and then Silvia coming up behind her. We see Lily emptying the picnic basket on the doorstep and placing baby Joe inside, and then we have the two women rolling around on the floor, into a grave. Silvia strangles Lily to death, at the same time that Meghan Jepsen emerges and sees the little baby lying there. She takes him in at the same time that the murder takes place, and then the rain starts to fall as Silvia rises triumphant from the grave (see "Malice in Workerland").
I killed Lily, so that I could get my chance to kill you. But you were gone. And then the church exploded... for some reason.
We are shown a shot of young Joanna sitting in the church basement, staring at the candle as it burns itself closer to the wine (see "The Lying Queen"). And then we're taken back up to the surface, and here yet again: "I don't care how long it takes, or how far I have to go, I'm going to find that baby… and kill him." (see "Malice in Workerland") And then she begins to walk away, to embark on her mission, when the entire church behind her suddenly explodes (see "Little Red Patch of Blood").
I felt bad about what I did...
She soon finds herself back at Lily's grave, after having dived from the explosion, staring down at the body of the dead girl she just strangled. As water fills the poor girl's final resting place, Silvia utters, "I didn't wanna do it, honey. But I had to. You understand." (see "Little Red Patch of Blood")
But not enough to stop. I fled Wikerly Hills for the time-being.
We see Silvia walking away from the church - from her life - in the rain, to consolidate herself to a life on the run.
And then, one day, when my mission had almost begun to slip my mind... I came across this article.
Silvia is seen in a different city, walking by a trashcan and seeing a newspaper tossed inside. Something about it catches her eye, and she sees the mugshot of Jorgio Del Barrio. It's all regarding his arrest for his involvement in the murder of Jose Sanchez, as well as the women found in his basement.
Jorgio was in jail, I learned. The girls free, I was relieved to hear. And I knew it was the best chance I'd ever have to claim my revenge. He was alone. Confined. Defenseless. But that wasn't all...
Silvia flips the page and sees Joe's mugshot also. She stares into his eyes, so much like her own, and utters, "No... it can't be." And then she reads his details. His age. And it confirms it for her.
I knew you were there too. It almost didn't seem worth the risk, to return to Wikerly Hills. But that's what swayed me.
A bus pulls up in the rain, and Silvia steps off of it, article in tow. "Well," she says, "I guess I'm back." And off she goes (see "Malice in Workerland").
I went to the prison and cut a hole in the fence. Then I disguised myself as a guard and found my way to Jorgio's cell. Killing him was the priority.
Silvia is seen arriving outside the cell. "It can't be…" utters Jorgio Del Barrio, taken aback by the sight of the phony guard in front of him, only for Silvia to utter in turn, "And yet, it is." She proceeds to take a key from her belt and unlock his cell door, stepping inside and closing it behind herself (see "Malice in Workerland"). We then skip ahead, to her advancing on him with the knife, him looking scared. "You know, I did think about paying your neighbor a visit. But no. You're more important." "M-my neighbor?" "Joseph DeWar, of course," Silvia smiles. "How is he relevant to you?" Jorgio asks, confused, and Silvia tells him, "I think you know." It takes a moment, but then Jorgio's eyes widen. "No..." he utters, "He can't be." "Yes. He can. He is."
So that's what I did. I killed him and made it look like a suicide.
We see her actually doing it now. Sliding that knife of hers into his wrist, enjoying his scream as she draws it across, the flesh squelching as the blood dribbles on out. She looks down at him as he falls to the floor, great satisfaction etched upon her face, and then she begins tying up his bed-sheets, forming a noose. After attaching it to the ceiling, she kneels down and props him up, proceeding to dab his own fingers into his blood and compose a little letter. A confession. And then the motherf*cker gets hanged.
But you saved me...
"What?" Silvia asks in the present, "At the riot?" "No," Joe tells her, "When you killed him. That confession you forged. You implicated him in the murder of Matthew Winters. You made it so that I could go free. If you wanted me dead, then... why?" "The police in this town are deeply stupid, I don't know if you know," Silvia responds. "I do," Joe nods, not knowing why this is necessarily relevant. "I know this because a sex trafficking business was able to successfully function in their town for nearly three decades. And I did a lot of things shakily regarding Jorgio's murder, upon reflection. A lot of things of things that should have been easy to see through, but weren't, to them. However, even the pigs of the Wikerly Hills Police Department would suspect that something was up if two prisoners as connected as yourselves happened to top yourselves on the very same night, and I figured my chances of hunting you down were better out in the open." "So that's what you were doing when you were stalking me?" Joe questions, "Hunting me down?" "Oh, yes," Silvia nods.
I went searching for you, and I was successful.
We see Silvia watching the four butlers enjoy their Thanksgiving meal together, watching through the window of the bar. "Found you," she hisses (see "Cinder-Fella").
Then I bought a gun, with the intention of shooting you down.
Under the assumed name of Dylan Roads, one of the many fake aliases she's amassed from her years on the run, Silvia is seen purchasing a sniper rifle with which to kill her son (see "Beauty and the Tryst").
I missed a few chances, but then I had you in my grasp. I was ready to pull the trigger, and then...
Silvia is up in that tree on hers, with Joe in her scope as he stands on the Littles' lawn. But then she witnesses a mugger come for Kathryn Kappelletti's purse, and watches as Joe chases him down (see "Goldilocks and the Four Butlers").
I saw how good you were. How happy you were just to... just to help people. You were the furthest thing from Jorgio Del Barrio I'd ever seen. And I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Seeing Joe give Kathryn her purse back, and the genuine pleasure he takes in doing so, Silvia's grip on the trigger relinquishes. She can't do it (see "Goldilocks and the Four Butlers").
Silvia is shown accidentally-on-purpose running into Selena James Washington at the mall. "So sorry," Silvia says, "I was just on my way to protest the selling of men's clothes at The Gap. I mean, it's called The Gap, right? That clearly specifies women! With a 'Y'!" "Where have you been all my life?" Selena asks, practically in love, "I'm Selena." "Lindsay."
And through Selena, I met you. And I liked you.
We cut to Silvia's first proper interaction with Joe, in the kitchen of the Washington house (see "The Little Spy Maid").
I think a part of me wanted you to figure me out. I knew you were meant to be this awesome detective, so... I peppered a few hints in. But then it actually started to happen and I just panicked, I guess.
Silvia is seen using the spy equipment she stole from Joe's bedroom in the Winters' mansion to spy on his conversation with Josh outside the cafe, realizing that they now know she's stalking him and that she isn't quite who she said she was (see "Little Red Patch of Blood").
I wanted to flee. Just for a while. Until things cooled over. But... there was something else I had to take care of first. I learned that Alison Del Barrio was pregnant, and...
As "Lindsay", Silvia is present at the women's Secret Santa meeting, hearing Alison accidentally confess that she's pregnant upon receiving a maternity dress from Liz as a joke (see "Little Red Patch of Blood").
I had to do something. I knew you were good, but, part of me still believed that that man's seed bore nothing but evil. And I couldn't let it out into the world. Not again.
While Ali is contemplating life, staring down at the basement hallway, Silvia emerges from the shadows and pushes her down the stairs. "I'm sorry," she booms down the basement stairs while the unconscious Ali bleeds, "But I had to do what I had to do. I could not suffer that thing to live." (see "Little Red Patch of Blood")
I didn't want to hurt Ali. I knew she was a victim of him, just like I was. And she was doing good work. But I did what I felt I had to at the time. And then I fled again.
Silvia is seen speeding off into the distance, in the car bought for her by Selena, while at the same time, Ben discovers his boss bleeding at the base of the basement steps. "Oh, my God, Ali!" he cries out as he dashes toward her, calling for help (see "The Aristocatfish").
I can't believe this...
"I know," Silvia tells him, back in the present yet again, "It's a lot to swallow." "You're wrong," Ben then steps forward and states. "Excuse me?" Silvia asks, looking up at him, and Joe rises to his feet now, giving his friend the stage. "Ali," Ben goes on, "she's nothing like you. You were both victims, yes, but... she could never hurt anyone. Ever. She took her experience and she turned it into strength. You took it and you turned it into... into this. A horror show. Don't you dare compare yourself to her in front of me ever again, or you will be the one who ends up bleeding out at the bottom of a stairwell." Tears are in his eyes as he recalls that horrible day, and Silvia stares up at him, stating, "I'm sorry." "Are you?" Joe asks, and Silvia exclaims, "Yes! I went a little nuts, okay?!" "And why did you come back? It wasn't to kill me. You made that clear when you saved my life." "It was to kill me," Rochelle speaks up, stepping out of the shadows. "Mama?" Aliza questions, but Rochelle shushes her. Joe nods, knowing Silvia was trying to kill Rochelle, and then he asks, "Why?" "Being back in this town," Silvia explains, "It dug up some old memories. And I began to realize something about my past. About what Rochelle did to kick-start all of these horrible events. She--" "Please," Rochelle stops her, "I know it has to come out now. The truth. But... just please let me be the one to say it." Joe stares the old woman up and down. She's normally so powerful. So proud. But she appears genuinely ashamed now. "Mama, what's going on?" Aliza needs to know. "Silvia isn't the only one who has a history with Jorgio Del Barrio," Rochelle states. "You don't mean..." Aliza utters, "You were one of his basement bimbos too?! Oh, but that means... wait, is he ma' daddy?!" Joe appears disgusted at this concept, "Dear God..." "Has I been doin' the do with my damn brother?!" Aliza screeches. "No!" Rochelle makes clear. "Thank Lord," Aliza then exclaims, "Wait, so, Manny then? Is that why you always seemed to hate him? 'Cause he was a rape baby?" "No," Rochelle rolls her eyes, "I hated him 'cause he was a nuisance who killed somebody and uprooted our damn lives. But I still loved him. He was my son. Mine and yo daddy's son. No one is anybody's brother, mkay?!" Silvia looks a little coy at this, turning to the side, and then Rochelle begins, "Okay, getting back on track..."
As y'all know, I was the Applewhites' maid. And a damn fine one at that.
Rochelle, as a young black woman, is seen mopping floors in the old Applewhite mansion, until they're sparkling clean.
Mr. Applewhite died around the same time my husband did, leaving me alone with two hungry children.
Rochelle is then seen visiting the grave of Mr. Little, buried on the dreary end of the cemetery. She then looks up and notices, on the extravagant side, that Mrs. Applewhite is seen crying over the grave of her own deceased husband.
Cancer is a nasty-ass disease. And my employer and I bonded over both having lost our loves over it. She was more of a wreck than I, though, and so she became dependent on me.
Mrs. Applewhite is shown as being bed-riddled, and Rochelle comes on in with a nice breakfast tray for her to eat from. Mrs. Applewhite thanks her maid, proceeding to tuck in while the two of them chat like friends.
I loved that woman. I'd have done anything for her. And she loved me back. To the point that she made an addendum to her will, shortly before she passed away herself.
Mrs. Applewhite is seen bed-riddled again, this time due to illness, signing documents which state that her fortune is to be passed down to her maid should she and her heir - Silvia - both perish.
I'd have gotten everything, she said. If there were no Applewhites left, it all woulda gone to me. But there was an Applewhite left. And I still had to be a maid for you, Silvia.
We see once again, Rochelle scrubbing the floors while Silvia and Lily step through it, ruining the work she's put in (see "Houseboy Who Cried Wolf").
I never liked you. You were spoiled and belligerent and never treated yo' Mama with the respect she deserved, which I personally cannot abide in a child. Now, being a good maid and, more importantly, a black one, I was pretty invisible at the time.
When Jorgio Del Barrio comes over to offer his condolences to Silvia over the loss of Mrs. Applewhite, Silvia thanks him, and he doesn't even seem to notice Rochelle standing there with her feather duster and uniform. Rochelle notices something, though, and that's the perverted way in which Jorgio stares at Silvia.
It meant I was able to hear things. Whispers. About a certain business run by Jorgio Del Barrio.
Trying her best to be discreet, Rochelle is seen approaching the Del Barrio mansion and ringing the doorbell. Jorgio Del Barrio answers. "Who the hell are you?" he asks. "Sounds about right," Rochelle nods, inviting herself in.
I wanted Silvia out of the picture, but I wasn't gonna kill her. I wasn't adept at covering up murders at the time, and couldn't exactly bring myself to do it anyway. And so I struck a deal with him.
"You're not exactly the kind of girl I'm looking for," Jorgio states once he and Rochelle are sat down inside. "But Silvia Applewhite is," Rochelle pushes, "And I can help you get her. All you gotta do is keep quiet and never bother me again." Jorgio considers the deal with great interest.
I was going to give him Silvia to do as he pleased, and then I'd get her money. Only... I ended up selling out more than I expected.
Rochelle is seen preparing a pot of tea, and mixing some sort of drug in with the batch, subtly stirring it in. She then heads to the parlor in order to serve it to her employer, only to see that Lily DeWar is there also. "Rochelle," Silvia reprimands, rolling her eyes, "Get a cup for Lily." "But..." Rochelle tries to prevent, but Silvia exclaims, "Don't answer back! I thought you were meant to be good at your job. My mother may never have fired you but I sure can. Another cup. Now."
Lily was never a part of the plan. But she drank the drugged tea all the same, and...
Silvia and Lily are seen sipping on the tea, and then turning to one another and feeling dreadfully whoozy. The two of them proceed to pass out, and Rochelle watches this happen from the doorway, peering in. It is then that the doorbell rings, and she answers it to Jorgio. "Is my prize ready for collection?" he wonders, and, nervously, Rochelle nods.
Jorgio took her too. The both of them ended up down here, because of me.
Rochelle appears incredibly guilty as she watches Jorgio and some of his friends dragging the two unconscious girls away, ready to be sold as sex slaves.
Rochelle is seen packing up a nice car, which she bought with all the money she now has, before driving off in it, ready for somewhere new, Aliza and Manny unseen in the backseat.
And that's what I've been living with, ever since.
In the present, everyone stares at Rochelle, disgusted at her. Including her own daughter. Silvia just stares at her with hate, though. "I knew it had to be you," she cries, "You did this to me!" She begins to shake her chains, and Rena prepares to step in with the taser, only for Silvia to use her leg to trip him up. "Silvia, please," Joe cries, only for her to kick him too, causing him to drop the knife used to kill his father. She picks it up with the hand that is not shackled to the wall and tries to get at Rochelle with it, struggling hard against her chains and making such a horrible clank with every move. "You did this to me!" she screams, wanting her dead. Rochelle is crying all the while. "You turned me into this! You made this all happen!" "I know," Rochelle utters, stepping back. Josh helps Rena up off the ground while Ben helps Joe, who tries stepping in to stop his mother from having the fit she's having. Silvia moves and slices his leg a little with the knife, forcing him to his knees with a scream. "Mother!" he cries out, and Silvia stops for a moment, staring at him. "Am I?" she asks, crying, "Am I that? Am I... anything?" Staring into her eyes again, Joe utters, "You need help." "I know I do," Silvia nods, "But not today." And then she lunges again, still wanting to get at Rochelle, at which point Joe grabs the taser from the floor, ups the charge and stuns her into unconsciousness with it. She hits the concrete with the hatred still on her face. Rochelle remains standing there. She tries taking Aliza's hand, but Aliza lets go. Joe then beckons Ben, and says, "Uncuff her." "What?!" Josh exclaims, "She's a madwoman." Ben goes to do so anyway, though, trusting Joe's judgment, and Joe explains, "What we just did was very illegal. We get her out of here. To the Little house. I don't want any awkward questions when the men come to take her away." "Men? What men?" Rena questions, and Joe tells them, "That's something I need to inquire about, actually. Anyone got the number of a decent mental asylum?"
In the meantime, Ali and Liz are upstairs, completely unaware of what had been going on beneath their feet. The two ladies make their way outside to check the mail, something Liz feels the need to complain about given that Ben was supposed to do that. Ali rolls her eyes though, approaching the box and reaching inside, pulling out a few envelopes. She flips through them for a minute, upon discovering one dressed to her from the "Pierce Residence". A look of resentment comes across her face, but she quickly abandons it when Liz nudges her. "Ali..." she utters, and the two women look forward. Something is approaching them, well, someone. A pair of heels click against the ground, and the camera pans upward to reveal a lavish purple dress which is being sported by none other than Maria Solano. "Elizabeth Davis, I'm Maria Solano, though I'm sure you already knew that," she greets, to Liz's absolute shock. Ali turns to her girlfriend, seeing she is frozen in place, and so she nudges her. "Right, hi," Liz finally replies, outstretching her hand; however, Mary blinks, as shaking hands is just not something she does. Liz awkwardly retracts her hand, remembering that it's not something she does either, and so Mary snaps her fingers. Her assistant, Jackson Deering, soon joins her with an iPad, which he hands to his boss. She pulls up the pictures of Ali and Liz kissing from earlier, and shows the two ladies. "Can you confirm this is you?" she asks of them, and they awkwardly turn to one another. "Uh, yeah," Liz finally admits. "Perfect," Mary exclaims, satisfied with this response. She hands her iPad back to Jackson, dismissing him to the limo. "So, Elizabeth Davis," she inquires, "how would you like me to make you a star?" Liz is taken aback by this, turning to Ali, and then back to Mary. "Um, uh, yes?!" she exclaims, "But why? I mean, why me?" "Because you're exactly what I'm looking for," Mary reveals, "You're young, beautiful, you're not big, but people know who you are. And you're a lesbian, which is so in right now. I've been suffering from writers' block as of the late, but seeing those pictures of you and... sweetie, what's your name?" "Ali," Ms. Del Barrio answers. "You and Ali," Mary continues, "Inspiration struct. A period film about a gal like yourself, in the big city, coming to terms with her sexual desires. You're also kinky, so that's a plus, and will most certainly be written in." "I... don't know what to say," Liz admits, and Mary just smiles. However, before being given the chance to say anything else, the three then find themselves being approached by none other than Kathryn Kappelletti. "Maria Solano, hiii!" she greets, "Are you lost? Is that why you're talking to Liz? Don't worry, I can help guide you away. Just don't break eye contact, and back slowly to your limo. We'll jump in and tell the chauffeur to hit it." "Bitch," is all Liz utters, ready to start swinging at her arch nemesis, but Ali holds her girlfriend back, and Mary decides to handle things for herself. "Dear, I'm actually here to offer Mrs. Davis the starring role in my new film, and given that I don't appreciate my actors being talked down to, I suggest you scram before I make you regret it." Kathryn is left offended by this, going on to say, "I was just trying to help you avoid making a terrible mistake." "No, the mistake is that the industry ever allowed you to make a name for yourself, you knock-off Kardashian, struttin' around here as if you're worth a damn. In reality, you know that your career is a failure and that outside of your now-less-than two million viewers, no one in this world's got a clue as to who you are. You spend your days throwing shade and making enemies out of men and women you deem to be lesser than yourself, when you're nothing but a glorified whore who thinks she's got the option to leave her husband whose family is the only reason she has more than a self-written IMDb biography. Well guess what, sweetheart: that's simply not the case, because while you've spent your time being rotten to everyone around you, Liz has been equally as rotten, but she's decided to get her crap together in time before karma came around to bite her in the ass again. So have fun, watching as your name fades away into nothing while Liz becomes the next Scarlett Johansson. Perhaps one day you'll be able to find work again; I did just hear that Once Upon a Time put out a casting call for some villagers." Kathryn is left shook, and Mary just blows her a kiss. There being nothing else she can do that wouldn't embarrass her even further, Mrs. Kappelletti sees fit to leave. Liz and Ali both wave, satisfied, and Mary turns back to Liz, handing her a card. "Keep in touch," she says, proceeding to return to her limo, and Liz and Ali then turn to each other, unable to believe what just happened. "I guess you got that job you planned to seek out," Ali points out, and Liz doesn't say anything; she just embraces her girlfriend with a kiss, excited with how well things are turning out for them both.
However, we later see Ali back inside of the Del Barrio mansion. She is currently sipping from a glass of wine, pacing back and forth in front of the fireplace in the den. All of the lights are out besides the fire she has lit, which is enough to read what is inside the envelope that was addressed to her from the "Pierce Residence". She reads through it, the words settling into her head, and once finished she puts down her glass of wine. We see a look of anger, of sadness, of frustration, sorrow, regret, all mixed together in one facial expression. She stares at the letter, at what it says, and in a fit of anger she starts to tear it up, to pieces, and she throws them all into the lit fire place and watches as the message burns away. Tears stream down her face.
Down the street, a white van is seen parked outside the Little house, with Silvia being escorted out in a straightjacket by two men. She is struggling against them, but it's no use, and Joe watches with Rochelle and Aliza from the doorway. He decides to follow, needing to talk to his mother about something, meaning Rochelle and Aliza are left alone. "It's good to just be back in my house after all that mess," Rochelle comments. "You mean my house," Aliza corrects. "What?" Rochelle asks in confusion, and Aliza tells her, "I can't believe you, Mama. What you did... what you started... it was awful. Just... just awful! And I don't want your evil ass livin' here no more. So I'mma take this house. I'mma take our money. And I don't wanna be seein' you for a long while. If you don't like it, you can take it up with the police. Of course then I'd have to go into detail about the charred body up in the attic." "I can't believe this. You ungrateful little--" "Believe it, Mama," Aliza states coldly. "But... where am I supposed to go?" Rochelle asks, tearing up now, to which Aliza states, "I don't care. Just get your crap together and go. And take that dumbass chair with you." "But... I'm your Mama." "Not anymore." Meanwhile, Joe has been granted access to the back of the white van, and is seen standing across from Silvia as she remains strapped down in that straight jacket of hers. "I need to ask you something," he states. "More questions," Silvia giggles, "Haven't I given you your damn fill!" "There's just one more thing I don't understand," Joe explains, "about you being my mother." "I assure you, I am," Silvia tells him. "Yes, but..." Joe goes on, "When I was digging around, doing research on Lily DeWar, I... I found her autopsy reports. People thinking she was my mother, it wasn't just by happenstance. She had given birth a short while prior to her death." Silvia smiles at this. "Ah, yes. That." "What do you mean, 'that'?" Silvia then leans in close, managing to stretch the straps enough to whisper into her son's ear, "There was another baby." Joe's eyes widen at this. "You mean... I have... a brother? Or sister? That Jorgio fathered with Lily?" "Jorgio had it sent away. Poor Lily was devastated. I tried to kill it too, but failed," Silvia admits, "Why do you think I was out of town for so long?" "But... but who are they?" Joe is desperate to find out. Silvia leans in close again. "Sorry," she then exclaims, "No more answers for you today. I guess you'll just have to keep on wondering. Son." And then she forces him back a little, and he steps backwards out of the van, a little traumatized by the insane giggling his mother starts to spout off. The asylum workers proceed to shut the back doors, and it isn't long before they drive off with Silvia in tow. Joe is left in shock at the revelation he's just been handed... and then he sees the Winters' mansion, right in front of him. It's then that he decides to just shrug off this horrible day - to put aside his new mission for another time - and go see the woman he loves.
"Joanna!" Joe calls out, entering the Winters' mansion, and Joanna comes rushing down the stairs, wine glass in tow, which she abandons in order to embrace her true love in a long, passionate kiss. "Joe, what the hell is going on?!" she proceeds to wonder afterwards, continuing, "I saw the van outside of Rochelle's place, and Ali called and said something went down in her basement, and--" But Joe doesn't let her continue, and instead kisses her again, something that Mrs. Winters does not object to. Once seeing that she's calmed down, Joe pulls back. "There will be time to answer all of your questions later," he promises, "I will sit you down and tell you everything, but right now I just need to be with you." "No more secrets," Joanna reminds him, "for either of us." "No more secrets," Joe promises again, and so Joanna agrees to drop it for now, believing that Joe will fill her in on everything shortly. Then there's silence, as the two look around, and then to each other. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" Joe wonders. "We're alone," Joanna replies, to which Joe repeats, "We're alone." The two smile at one another, this being the new start of their lives; however, it's only then that the front door swings open, with Rena returning home. "Gosh, what a day it's been," he exclaims, and Joe and Joanna look at one another, realizing that they forgot to fire the butler. "Um, Rena?" Joe exclaims, deciding that now's as good a time as any. "We need to talk," Joanna then finishes, and Rena just looks at the two, unaware of where they're going with this.
"Mary, I'm sorry, but my boss just fired me. Can I come stay with you for a bit?" Rena asks, exiting the Winters' mansion with a few bags of his belongings. "Yeah, that's alright," Mary says on the other line, "But guess what, inspiration struck, just like you said it would!" she exclaims, gleefully. Rena is happy for his new girlfriend as he allows her to start delving into the details. Joanna, meanwhile, makes her way to the front door where she calls out, "Rena, we're sorry! You can still live here until you get a new job." But Rena's gone at that point, and Joanna doesn't feel the need to argue this any further. She goes to make her way back inside; however, something catches her attention. Next to her front door is a nicely wrapped box with a card attached to the top. "To Emilie." Joanna's eyes widen in horror, and then she flips the card over to be met by the words, "Mare athei." More horror as she then removes the cover to the box. She about jumps at what's inside, pulling out what is none other than a blood-stained knife... the exact same knife she used to kill the real Joanna years before. Mrs. Winters looks around, afraid of what this means. Has someone figured her out? Was it Nadia? These questions and more run through Joanna's head, but for now she just puts the knife back into the box and the cover back on top. She maintains composure as she re-enters her mansion, and then violently slams the door behind her.
The Sun rises anew on Wikerly Hills, lighting up the Catholic church where, out front, its workers can be seen changing the name "Castillo" to the name "Sonya" in regards to the forthcoming Gibbons wedding that is to be taking place there this very day. Inside one of the rooms, which has been decked out like a dressing room, Josh fastens his tie in the mirror, then looking at himself and taking a deep indraught of nervous breath. "How do I look?" he asks, turning to his three groomsmen, and Joe, Rena and Ben all exude rather positive reactions, giving him thumbs up and the like. "You could be a bit more vocal," he expresses. "What are we, your bridesmaids?" Rena questions, and Josh rolls his eyes, telling the Portuguese butler that he may as well be with the amount of makeup he has on. "Hey, Maria Solano is my plus one," Rena points out, "and you never know where the paparazzi might strike." The others chuckle, and Joe chimes in with, "Speaking of, you're okay with my plus one, right? I mean I know things between you and Joanna are..." "It's fine," Josh assures, cutting him off, because things between him and Joanna are kinda shaky, but one can tell he's trying his best to power through it. "Good," Joe nods awkwardly, and there's a small silence. "It's been quite a hectic few months, hasn't it? Me being in prison and then all the crazy stuff that followed..." he proceeds to ask, and the other butlers don't hesitate to nod in agreement. "Hopefully that stops now," Josh comments as he applies a pair of cufflinks, "And I'll have a perfect wedding. I mean, my mother didn't show, but that's to be expected really." The other butlers look sad for a moment, wondering if he's okay, but he assures, "I'm fine. She of all people isn't gonna ruin my day. Now, do you think I need something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?" "I don't think so?" Ben responds, "But maybe just in case." "Okay, um, well something new would be this suit, I suppose. Although I did have to get it from a thrift shop so I guess it counts as something old as well. Something borrowed, um..." "Here," Rena says, taking a makeup pallet from his inside pocket and quickly dabbing some of his foundation over Josh's cheek, "You had a blemish anyway." "Cool," Josh nods, "and something bluuuuue." "Selena's hair?" Ben jokes, at which Josh makes clear that that bitch is most definitely not invited, then taking a blue hankie from the dressing table and stuffing it into his breast pocket. "Okay, all ready to walk down the aisle," he smiles. "You're gonna walk down the aisle?" Joe questions. "Sure," Josh nods, "then I marry the love of my life." "And you're certain this one is the love of your life?" Ben makes sure. "I am," Josh smiles, "I really, really am." "Good," Ben nods, approving, "I always liked Brad." "Yeah, he's hot," Rena agrees, at which Josh flicks him on the ear. "And then," the English butler carries on, "we all go get blind-face drunk at my reception, because I don't think we had time to plan much more than the alcohol order." "Well obviously I'm not drinking," Joe reminds. "And I gotta leave kinda early," Rena says, "job-hunting, and all." He stares evilly at Joe, who looks defensive and asks, "How many times do you want me to apologize?" "Guess just you and me then," Josh jokes to Ben, only for Ben to admit, "I actually have to leave kinda early too. But I'll probably be back later." "Why? Where are you going?" Joe wonders. "To the police station," Ben reveals, "I've been reluctant to go, given the WHPD's crappy reputation, especially lately, but I... um, I have to turn in Valentina." "For what?" Rena asks, confused, and Ben takes a deep breath. "Full disclosure, right? Well, recently, uh, Val, she... she raped me. And now she's pregnant and plans on suing me for child support." The other butlers are taken aback by this, each taking a moment to step in and comfort their friend. He assures them that he's doing fine, he just wants to be rid of that bitch... and now he never truly can be. There's a moment of sadness, before he announces, "But forget about me. This is Josh's day." "Yes, it is," Josh smiles, looking at himself in the mirror one more time, "Let's go get me married."
Brad also takes a deep breath, but more from excitement than anything else, as he stands at the altar in anticipation of the man he loves. The butlers can be seen sitting in the front row now. Joe beside Joanna, Rena beside Mary, Ben beside Ali and Liz. Even Aliza has come to see the show, just to make sure Josh is really as gay as he claims, along with a few other Wikerly Hills residents. Kathryn Kappelletti, for instance, who's in the back and wanting to keep a close eye on her red-headed rival, same as Eli. Soon enough, the church organ starts to play, and all rise as Josh emerges from betwixt the rather grand double doors, then making his way slowly down the simple but elegant aisle; Brad is smiling all the while. Josh smiles in return, as do the majority of guests watching him, and eventually he makes it to his love and the music comes to a slow, natural halt. He is standing there now, an arch over them, a modern-minded minister in between. Everyone who was standing takes a seat. And so the ceremony proceeds. "Dearly beloved..."
We are next shown the vows. The two grooms, about to place the golden wedding bands - purchased thoughtfully by Brad - onto the other's finger. "Josh," Brad utters, "now, I promised myself I wasn't gonna cry, and, I'm on the verge of breaking that promise, so, I wanna make this quick, because, it probably isn't good to start the promise-making portion of the rest of our lives together with promise-breaking, and, there's only one thing I really wanna say anyway, and, now I'm babbling just like I was the first time we said this to each other, and--" "I love you, too," Josh just smiles, staring into the eyes of his betrothed. "So much," Brad smiles back, and then, "Dammit, stupid tears." Josh tears up a little too as Brad proceeds to slide the golden ring onto his left hand. And with that, Josh goes to give his vows. "Brad," he starts, "obviously we didn't have much time to write these, so, I'm probably just gonna kind of wing it if that's okay. I could try putting into words how much I love you, but... I think I'd rather just show you. Every day. For as long as we both shall live. Because that's what I want. To be with you. To grow old with you. To... to have my life happen with you by my side. What I'm trying to say is that... that horrible time apart we had has forced me to realize... that I don't wanna know who I am without you. I'm sorry, and I'm also not sorry, because I think I needed that to be able to fully appreciate just how much you truly mean to me. You were there for me in one of the worst times of my life, and you've been there for me ever since. Even when I've not necessarily returned the favor. And so that's what I'll spend the years doing. Making you feel as loved... and as cherished... and as safe as I've felt since we began." "My makeup's gonna run," Rena complains from the front row, fighting the tears, "I said I wasn't gonna cry either." "I'm only part-crying," a teary Joe whispers in response, "Not blubbering, blubbering is what I meant when I said no crying." "I'm blubbering," Ben admits, totally gone, "you guys are freaks." Everyone watches in awe and wonderment as the ring is placed onto Brad's finger as well, and then the minister announces, "You may now kiss each other." And they do. A simple, beautiful, loving kiss, allowing them to be pronounced husband and husband. They then pull apart, expecting to hear applause, but instead they hear... chanting. Angry, impassioned chanting - coming from outside. Everyone has turned in confusion as to what it is, and then comes the oh too familiar voice through the megaphone. "We know you're in there, Ben!" booms Selena, "Come on out and face us!" "Oh, hell no," Josh hisses, then turning to the minister and saying, "Sorry, Father," before beginning to march back down the aisle. "Josh, wait," Brad calls, going after his husband, and the confused guests want to look as well. The church doors burst open and the two grooms step out, surrounded by those they love most, and it should be a happy occasion, but it isn't. Because instead of birds or rice or whatever it is they're supposed to be greeted with, they've got Selena holding up a sign beside Valentina Cortez, about two or three dozen protesters having been wrangled up behind them. They too are holding signs and chanting indistinguishable remarks in a circle, all of which is hatred aimed towards Ben and his "claim" that a woman was able to rape him. "Oh, my God..." Ben whispers, a tad traumatized, and Val spots him and flashes him a smile, proceeding to rub her hand over her belly. "Selena, stop," Josh orders, stepping forward as everyone fills up the church courtyard in need of a look. "Tell it to your friend!" Selena barks through the megaphone, while Joe puts an arm around Ben to comfort him. "What's going on?" Joanna wonders. "I have no idea," Mary responds. "I think Ben's a rapist?" Liz questions, confused, "I'm oddly unfazed by it." "Leave him alone!" Ali cries out to Selena, stepping forward, and Josh exclaims to his former employer, "You've ruined my life for the last time, you insane speck of Tumblr trash!" Selena stares him down, and he stares back, a mutual hatred existing between them. Putting the megaphone aside, Selena screeches that perhaps he should have married the man that ze set aside for him, "As it is, you and your privileged little buddies are gonna go up in flames!" At this, Brad approaches his fuming husband and states, "Honey. Don't let her get to you. Don't even give her the attention she's after. I'm just... I'm gonna go back inside, okay? We'll resume the ceremony, pretend like none of this is happening." But Josh isn't sure he can do that. So Brad leads by example. He turns back and begins making his way through the guests, past the minister, and through the grand double doors. And then the church explodes. Glass shatters and wood goes flying as fire bursts through the windows, sending a powerful shockwave through the wedding party that soon has everyone on the floor, lying, horrified, in rubble. A stray flame hits Selena's picket sign, which she quickly drops with a scream of fear, but her flammable blue hair dye has already caught fire, and so she just continues to squeal. It spreads and her flesh bakes; her skin goes black and her eyeballs melt into jelly and her clothes aren't long gone either, being made primarily of cruelty-free polyester. With a final cry of something abstract regarding the death of all men, the social justice warrior finally drops to the earth as a charred, lifeless cinder, still burning away like the church before her. A final flame-war. No one cares, of course. In fact, nobody really pays all that much attention at all. Most seem to have escaped any serious harm, that we can spot. And they're all too busy staring at the spectacle that is Josh, on the floor, staring in turn up at the burning site of religion. "Brad?" he manages to call out once his voice finally returns to him; he is cut and bruised and sooty and crying, but all he cares about is the fact that his new husband is still in there. "BRAAAAAAAAAAD??!!!!!"

In what sense were the Littles run out of town and by whom?
